Charles Lubbat

Charles Lubbat from Atlanta, Georgia, is a swimming pool consultant who has built a profitable business for himself in this small niche. He has helped to pioneer this niche through his work ethic and his passion for new ideas.

With world travel a regular factor in his life, he has opened his mind to new possibilities and expanded his business through bringing a truly international approach to his company.

Mr. Lubbat credits his work ethic and his relative freedom as a bachelor for being able to develop a strong work-life balance and to keep working even under pressure. He also loves nothing more than being able to provide a unique swimming pool consultancy approach to individual clients, no matter their backgrounds.

What was your best/favorite subject in school?

I was always passionate about history and civics, which is also why I’ve always loved traveling the world. But I think civics was what eventually led me, in a roundabout way, towards entrepreneurship.

Why did you first get into the industry you currently work in?

The amount of travel I do definitely helped. From private homes to hotels, I learned about what it took to be a successful swimming pool consultant and precisely how big this industry can be.

But above all, I’m passionate about what I do.

How have your earlier jobs prepared you for what you do now?

My earlier jobs were pockmarked with experiences that I had no passion for. Either I didn’t care about the work or I felt like I wasn’t being used to my fullest potential.

That’s why today I always tell people that passion is one of the essential skills you can have as an entrepreneur.

How do you keep yourself motivated?

A love of the job is what keeps me going. I love seeing my consultancy projects come to fruition and the people I work with realizing that choosing me has made a difference in their lives.

What kind of business ideas excite you most?

Any idea that’s original is what gets me going. That’s why I think swimming pool consultancy is so cool because it’s a truly untapped market. I’m also interested in anything that combines entrepreneurship with travel and working remotely.

Have you ever tried any unorthodox techniques to attract attention to your business?

I try to be unorthodox as often as I possibly can. You always have to be original and unorthodox if you’re going to stay competitive.

What personal achievement are you most proud of?

Inspiring other entrepreneurs and consultants are what I’m most proud of because I see the results from the messages I get. I also see the results of my lessons when I look at flourishing consultancy businesses, especially from traveling entrepreneurs.

What wisdom would you have liked to share with yourself when you first started out?

I would tell my younger self that overcoming a challenge is how you look at that challenge. By welcoming challenges and not shying away from them you’re better equipped to deal with them.
