If you plan to interview an author regarding their new book be sure to read the book first. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched a reviewer that clearly never read beyond the cover notes and it shows. The author must be embarrassed when the interviewer hasn’t bothered to read their book before having them on to talk about it. It goes beyond rude if you don’t read the book. It brings in a question of good judgment. If I could advise these dumb interviewers I would say reading the book is the minimum that you should do. Luke Weil says that reading the book should be required.
