Ivy Bruce

Today we had the chance to interview Ivy Bruce from Recovery Android.

1. What was your best/favorite subject in school?
Mathematics. In my primary school, I did badly in Maths but later, a new Maths teacher came to our class to replace the old teacher who retired. The new teacher was young and nice. She was always patient to help us solve problems even though spent her spared time to teach us. What impressed me most is that she encouraged me to be confident to express myself in the class. After that, I fell in love with mathematics and got better and better grades.

2. What was your first job?
Editor for a website. That is the first job for me, which I searched on the recruitment website. At the beginning, I had sent many resumes to different companies and got a few reply. The editor position is one of them. I compared those positions and considered for several days but I like writing and sharing, so I chose this job.

3. Where and how did you first get into the industry you currently work in?
Actually, it was that my friend recommended this job to me since my first job is editor, he thought this new position (related to writing but I can learn more than writing) would be suitable for me and better than the first one. At the beginning, I just worked as a junior editor for a blog but I was interested in running a website, especially in mobile software industry. Since mobile phone became more and more important in our lives, the related industry must be popular. Thus, I became a manager of RecoveryAndroid studio and mainly manage www.recovery-android.com.

4. How have those jobs prepared you for what you do now?

Creative idea: Keep thinking and pay attention to the details of life. Many creative ideas come from life, which would be helpful for your work.

Conscientious attitude: Being serious to anything will improve your working efficiency as you don’t need to repeat the job again and again. And this will make your business partners or your leader appreciate your attitude at work.
Sensitivity to news: As for my job, it needs us to be sensitive to news or the change of this industry. Once some new mobile have released or some interesting apps become popular, we would follow up and publish some articles about them.

5. Describe the best day of work you’ve ever had.
I think there were many wonderful days of work I’ve ever had but I cannot find the best of them. However, I can select one of them to share. That is a day when the entire team worked overtime to have the meeting to brainstorm. That is our first time to brainstorm. The meeting continued for a long time until midnight (maybe half a day) and all people shared the ideas. The discussion is really lively. Even though not all ideas were acceptable but we enjoyed this. At last, we created some practical plans and applied into operating our website, which benefited a lot. Henceforward, we always held brainstorm meeting.

6. How do you keep yourself motivated?
Sharing can keep myself energetic. Share what you have learned with partners and get what they have learned so that everyone can keep growing up. Of course, to make yourself motivated, sport is also a good way. Sometimes, I would keep running to make myself energetic, which will improve the working efficiency.

7. What kind of business ideas excite you most?
Photographer or Videographer

10. What wisdom would you have liked to share with yourself when you first started out?
I think everyone is unique so we must believe “I am the only one”. This belief will encourage ourselves to do better and even achieve many targets that you have never thought. Anyway, confidence is the most important. Even though you lose anything, you cannot lost yourself (your heart).
